LODGING LEVELS

1. Camping:  Sleeping outside under the stars or in tents.  Check your particular trip information to see if the gear is provided by ALP or if you are expected to bring your own.

2. Basic: Simple accommodations designed to give backpackers and pilgrims a bed and a warm meal.  There will most likely be several bunk beds in one room.  The bathrooms will likely be in the halls.  It is possible that rooms may not be able to be divided by gender or from non-ALP participants. These lodgings are typically mountain “rifugi” and pilgrim accommodations.

3. Standard: More comfortable rooms divided by gender amongst your ALP group only.  You will typically have 1-3 roommates, but there may be several bunk beds in one room.  The bathrooms may be in the halls or in the rooms. These lodgings are typically religious houses (monasteries, convents, etc.) but may be other kinds of establishments as well.

4. Superior: Nicer rooms with guaranteed only 1 roommate and a bathroom in your room. These lodgings are typically hotels but sometimes are religious houses or other establishments.

5. Premier: 4 and 5 star hotels and other more luxurious establishments. 1 roommate only and a bathroom in your room.

UPGRADES

It is often possible to upgrade the type of lodging for some or all of the nights for an extra charge. For example, if the group is hiking in the alps and there are 2 nights in a “basic” accommodation, you may be able to upgrade to a “standard” or “superior” level for those 2 nights.  We would prioritize an upgrade close to the lodging where the main group is housed, but we cannot guarantee an ALP staff will be in your establishment.  Contact us if you are interested in this option.

SINGLE-ROOM SUPPLEMENT

A single-room supplement is usually available for purchase on our pilgrimages.  Please see your specific trip information for more details or contact us.
