Join Holy Rosary Academy on a pilgrimage to France! The trip starts in Paris where we will get to know this amazing city- praying in its beautiful churches, eating its delicious food, and exploring its elegant streets. Transferring to Normandy, we will visit Lisieux and pray at the tomb of St. Therese, walk along the D-Day beaches, and then visit Mont St. Michel and Chartres. We will then transfer to Lourdes for the last two days

ITINERARY

Paris

Days 1-4: Leave Alaska on Day 1, arrive in France on Day 2 I Discover the Notre Dame Cathedral I Visit St. Germain-des-Pres, St. Suplice, and Sacre Coeur I Pray at the Miraculous Medal Shrine and tomb of St. Catherine Laboure I Walk along the River Seine I Visits to the Museum d’Orsay, Saint-Chapelle, and the exterior of the Eiffel Tower

Normandy

Days 4-7: Transfer to Lisieux I Visit the house of St. Therese of Lisieux I Pray at the tombs of St. Therese and her parents SS. Louis and Zelie Martin I Visit Omaha Beach, Utah Beach and the American cemetery at Omaha Beach I Transfer to Mont St. Michel, visit the Abbey church and museum, and hike in the bay I Head to Chartres and explore the famous cathedral there

Lourdes

Days 7-10: Head to Lourdes I Pray at the grotto where the Virgin Mary appeared to St. Bernadette I Discover the places associated with the life of St. Bernadette and learn the story of the apparitions I Plunge into the Lourdes baths or take part in the Water Gesture I Participate in the candlelight rosary in the evenings and bottle up some Lourdes water to take home to family and friends I Transfer to Toulouse on the morning of Day 10 to fly home

We will be staying in a combination of hotels and the guest accommodations of religious houses (monasteries, convents, sanctuaries, etc.).

EATING

We eat mainly at restaurants. Menus may be limited to fixed options or set menus. Some meals may be picnics. Breakfasts provided are in the local style (typically not as hearty as American style). We can accommodate most food allergies.



LUGGAGE

You may bring any type of luggage with you on this trip. This particular itinerary is not a backpack-only pilgrimage, but we do recommend a backpack. We will provide a detailed packing list.



PRAYING

Prayer is at the heart of the pilgrimage. Daily mass, the liturgy of the hours, the rosary, and other prayer opportunities are available throughout the pilgrimage.

ARRIVAL

We will be organizing a group airline ticket, so please do not buy anything at present
Airport: Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG)

DEPARTURE

Airport: Tarbes Lourdes Pyrenees (LDE) or Toulouse-Blagnac (TLS)
Departure will be in the morning on the last day and you will arrive back into the US the same day.
We will be organizing a group airline ticket, so please do not buy anything at present

TRANSPORTATION

We will be using a variety of transportation on this pilgrimage. A private coach will be utilized for at least part of the trip, but we will also hop on a train for some of our transfers.
